No child should have to walk barefoot to school. Our first large-scale shoe drive put nearly 300 pairs of shoes on the feet of children—restoring dignity, safety, and confidence.

In a powerful intervention, we rescued three girls from being sold into early marriages because their family couldn’t afford to pay their school fees. We brought them back to safety and enrolled them in school, restoring their right to safety, education, and childhood. This milestone reflects our deep commitment to justice and protection.

Realizing that learning cannot happen on an empty stomach, we launched our school feeding initiative. In partnership with a local school in Kibera, Happy Plates began serving warm, nutritious meals daily—fueling both minds and bodies.

We celebrated a powerful milestone: one of our earliest scholarship recipients was admitted to university—the first in their family to do so. Their success became the blueprint for our long-term support model.

Unlike many programs that focus solely on academic performance, we look at the whole child. We support students who may not have the top grades—but have determination, grit, and untapped potential.
We are currently based in Kenya, where all of our programs are actively serving children across both rural and urban communities. As we grow, our dream is to expand our impact to more regions across Africa and beyond.
Meals are prepared by local cooks in partner schools using regionally sourced ingredients. This supports the local economy while ensuring that children receive warm, and nutritious food.

The Beyond Barriers Scholarship is open to students in Kenya who demonstrate potential, resilience, and a strong desire to stay in school—but who face significant financial or personal obstacles. While academic performance is considered, we look beyond grades to understand each student’s unique story and challenges.
